USUN Rome Team raises 2,290 Euros for the Horn of Africa, 2012 Hunger Run

For the seventh year in a row , USUN Rome joined the annual Hunger Run sponsored by the UN Agencies in Rome,  including the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO),  Biodiversity International, the World Food Programme (WFP) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).  This  year the USUN team  had over 175 participants, who donated €2,290 for poor and malnourished people in the Horn of Africa.

USUN Rome had a diverse team including three universities: the American University of Rome, Loyola University of Chicago, and the University of Washington-Rome campus.  In addition, the USUN Rome team had outstanding representation from the U.S. Embassy to Italy and U.S. Embassy to the Holy See.  About 30 members of the team tackled the competitive 10 kilometer race,  with one team member even placing in the top 10!  The rest enjoyed the beautiful fall weather as they jogged or walked, with dogs and strollers,  for 5 kilometers through the heart of ancient Rome, past the Colosseum and the Forum.

After the race,  Ambassador David Lane invited Hunger Run participants to join him at his residence for a barbeque, which everyone enjoyed.

We hope everyone will join us again for next year’s run!
