On May 20th, Ambassador Ertharin Cousin visited the University of Minnesota where she received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree—the highest honor conferred by the university. She spoke to the university about the U.S. government’s important work with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Agencies headquartered in Rome, Italy.
The Ambassador also commended the University of Minnesota for its recent partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). This partnership was created to help combat global hunger, create safer, more accessible food systems, and promote more environmentally-sound agricultural practices.
Ambassador Cousin spent the following day meeting with faculty and leading researchers working on global food security, safety and sustainability to discuss ways the University of Minnesota and the UN food and agriculture agencies could partner on the shared global commitment to ending world hunger.
