U.S. Ambassador to the UN Agencies in Rome Cindy H. McCain’s Travel to Guatemala and Honduras July 23-30
U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Agencies in Rome, Cindy H. McCain, will visit Guatemala from July 23 – July 27 and Honduras from July 27 – July 30, 2022. During her trip, she will lead a media tour to various U.S.-funded UN projects to showcase how the U.S. government, the UN Food and Agriculture Agencies, and the Governments of Guatemala and Honduras collaborate to reduce hunger and food insecurity and advance humanitarian relief, livelihood protection, and agriculture-led economic growth, especially at this critical time for food and fertilizers.
While in Guatemala, Ambassador McCain will visit the dry corridor and talk with families that benefit from U.S.-funded UN projects in Chiquimula, Plan de Jacote, and Jalapa. She will also meet with high-level government officials and members of the private sector to discuss U.S. government investments in food security in Guatemala as well as the ongoing global food security crisis.
In Honduras, Ambassador McCain will visit several UN programs sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Agency for International Development that support family farming and inclusive agri-food systems in La Paz, Lempira, and Intibucá.
