2014 Hunger Run

On October 19th, USUN Rome participated in the Hunger Run for the ninth consecutive year. The Hunger Run is an annual event, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, with the World Food Program (WFP) and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) as additional sponsors. It is designed to draw awareness to the issue of world hunger. This year, USUN Rome surpassed last year’s goal with 256 registered runners who donated €2,600 toward school feeding programs for children in developing countries.

USUN Rome’s team included representation from our own tri-mission community as well as four universities: Loyola University of Chicago, John Cabot, University of Washington-Rome campus, and American University of Rome. Just over 15 team members participated in the competitive 10 kilometer race, while the rest enjoyed a leisurely paced 5 kilometer walk or jog through Rome’s historic center. After the run, many participants joined Ambassador David Lane at his residence for a post-run barbeque.

Thank you to everyone for running for an important cause. We look forward to seeing your support and attendance in next year’s run!
