"The Arctic region is warming, faster on average than the rest of the planet," noted Ambassador David Balton, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Oceans and Fisheries, U.S. Department of State, in an interview with FAO broadcasters. An International Arctic Fisheries Symposium on "Managing Resources for a Changing Arctic" in Anchorage, Alaska in October 2009 will advance international cooperation and scientific research on Arctic fisheries.
